Dr. Li Yu (虞莉) of Williams College will give a talk on the topic "Localization of PCA in a Liberal Arts College Setting" in AAPEAL's Workshop Series
On April 20, 2023, Thursday, AAPEAL will host a 90-min workshop featuring the speaker Dr. Li Yu from Williams College. As a prestigious professor who specializes in East Asian language pedagogy and the chair of the Department of Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of Williams College, Dr. Yu will give a talk about how to implement the Performed Culture Approach (PCA) in a liberal arts college setting. She will discuss the strengths of PCA and the challenges of applying it in various language programs. She will share her personal experiences of adapting PCA to different teaching materials and of using PCA to innovate curricular designs from beginning to advanced levels. She will also offer advice to graduate students who are seeking to pursue a career in a liberal arts college after graduating from OSU.
This workshop is open to all graduate students and faculty in DEALL and is also open to the general public. Anyone who is interested in learning, researching, or teaching East Asian languages as foreign languages is welcome to join. This also includes exchange students and visiting scholars.
