The eighth volume of Buckeye East Asian Linguistics (BEAL-8), edited by Mineharu Nakayama, Marjorie K.M. Chan, and Zhiguo Xie, has been published through the OSU Knowledge Bank.

This volume is dedicated to Professor Charles J. Quinn Jr., who passed away on July 11, 2023. He taught classical and modern Japanese language, linguistics, and language pedagogy at DEALL from 1986-2023, with his first several years as the coordinator of the intensive Japanese language program under the Ohio Board of Regents' Challenge Grant. He received the 1990 OSU Alumni University Distinguished Teaching Award.  The volume includes 12 articles from current and past DEALL graduate students and faculty members, in addition to Professor Quinn’s last manuscript, which he had finished shortly before his passing.
