Our congratulations to DEALL alumna Yawei Li, who has accepted a full-time lecturer position at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), a nationally top-ranked, private research institution in Cleveland, Ohio.  Yawei received her Ph.D. last August 2023 in Chinese Language Pedagogy, advised by Professor Galal Walker. Yawei has extensive Chinese language teaching experience at institutions spanning two countries: China (Sichuan University) and the U.S. (Arizona State U., Ohio State U., Hamilton College, and Berea College). During her past year as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, she oversaw and taught in the Chinese program, supervised Chinese language-teaching assistants, and served as the advisor to the Chinese Language and Culture Club on their culturally-related events. 

This Fall Semester 2024, Yawei joins Case Western's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, with its Chinese Program supporting a Chinese major and minor. Given her extensive coursework at Ohio State, together with her rich teaching experiences at different institutions, Yawei has a lot to offer CWRU’s Chinese Program, including proposing new courses over time to enrich their program. Yawei is very much looking forward to returning to Ohio to contribute to the dynamic academic community at Case Western. We hope Yawei comes back from time to time to visit her alma mater at OSU!
