Congratulations to Ai-Ling Lu, our DEALL Ph.D. student in Chinese Language Pedagogy, on her recent achievement at the 38^th Edward F. Hayes Advanced Research Forum. She received second place in the humanities category for her oral presentation entitled “Recoding In-Between Identity Through Linguistic Recoding: Indigenous Sinophone Poetry by Taiwanese Amis Poet, Adaw Palaf.” This study delves into how the indigenous poet, Adaw Palaf, navigates and renegotiates his indigenous identity in his Sinophone poetry via self-translation and linguistic hybridity.

The Edward F. Hayes Advanced Research showcases the innovative and exemplary research being conducted by Ohio State graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across the full range of graduate degree programs and research topics and facilitates fruitful exchanges between graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, the administration, and the public. Cash prizes, totaling more than $17,000, are awarded to the top-judged presentations in each academic area.
